Check-in & access

The cottage uses keyless entry on the front door. Please enter and exit through the front, and use the desk key for everything else.

Front door · keyless entry

Your door code is provided in the Airbnb app the morning of check-in. If anything goes wrong, text either of us — we're nearby and happy to help.

The desk key

A single key on the desk unlocks three things: the kitchen sliding door, the garage door from the back patio, and the inside padlock on the patio gate.

Note Please do not try the desk key on the front door — that's controlled by the keypad lock only.
Patio & side gates
  • Patio gate. Latched from the inside. Please keep it latched when not in use.
  • Western side gate (left of the entrance). Padlocked — combination 6910. This is the gardener's access.

Parking

Street parking

Plenty of free street parking. If the curb is full, feel free to parallel park directly in front of the double garage.

Garage parking

You're welcome to use the left side of the garage. It's a narrow stall, so take it slowly entering and exiting. A remote will be on the desk; an outside keypad also opens it.

Heating & cooling

A single Nest thermostat in the living room controls the home. It may be on "eco mode" when you arrive.

To use it: tap the right side of the dial to wake it up, scroll up or down to set your preferred temperature, then tap once more to confirm.

Smart home & cameras

We use Google Home to manage the Nest thermostat, the front door camera, and the garage gate camera and floodlight. If it'd be useful, we're happy to invite you to the home so you can manage all of this during your stay.

Privacy During your stay we don't log in to the Google Home unless you ask us to, or in the case of a true emergency.
External cameras
  • Front door doorbell. Faces the entry path — a standard arrival view.
  • Courtyard gate camera and floodlight. Mounted outside the patio gate, motion-activated.

There are no interior cameras of any kind.

Lighting

  • Back patio door Switch is inside, near the trash can. Please turn this off overnight.
  • Patio lights Outdoor switch to the right of the kitchen sliding door.
  • Planter lights On a timer — come on at sunset, off at 11 pm.
Heads up A few indoor switches are quirky and "have character." Where it matters, we've left small labels.

Yard & landscaping

Dino and his dad are our landscapers. They come every other Wednesday, mid-morning, and stay about an hour or two.

  • They have access to the yard only — never the house or garage.
  • Please leave the green bins outside, along the fence on the far side of the garage, so they can reach them.
  • Say hi if you're around — they're very friendly. If you have a specific request for the yard, let them know.
Irrigation

Front and back yards are on automatic sprinklers — nothing to do there.

No. 13

Houseplants

There are three live indoor houseplants. If you're comfortable doing so, please water each one weekly. The large deli container in the drawer below the microwave is the right amount for each plant.

Optional If you'd rather not — totally fine. Just let us know and we'll swing by and grab them.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping isn't included with your rental. If you'd like us to arrange weekly or bi-weekly cleaning with our housekeeper, just reach out — we're happy to set it up and share details.

Enjoy your stay.
